I feel crappy.
Despite my midwestern sensibilities, I would say that last night went really well. We had new faces and new voices...and there was beer afterward. I have to keep telling myself that last night was fun to overcome how crappy I truly feel. Thanks Michael for the new voice. Thanks Dwight for the awesome prose. Thanks Brian for the Mich Ultra. And everyone else I don't know...well...thanks.

contest/fund raising ideas?
okay, so i'm hoping to have all of the neccesaries out of the way by the end of the year, so that we can move forward without any hangups in '06, as far as incorporation and good standing with the IRS and whatnot and soforth.
that being the assumption, i wanted to roll out the beginning of '06 with a poetry contest, leading up to a journal publication. i was thinking like $15 per entry(?), one entry per poet...winner gets to write the intro to the first journal(?), and maybe a nominal cash prize(?!). all entries would be judged by a group of like 3(?) of us, based on, i dunno, specific criteria to be determined later.
we would use the money to
a: publish the journal
b: furnish the cash prize(?)
and c: fund future contests, publications, events, guest poets, etc.
i would like some feedback on this, as well as other possible fundraising ideas that will
a: fit into our theme and purpose
and b: not be annoying and beggarly.
not yet.
Randomnity is not a word
I sponsor a poetry club here at school and my kids were doing kind of a fun activity the other day. They took seven words and tried to use all of them in a poem. There are no parameters other than the fact that you have to use them all...I thought that might be fun to do here.
The words are: real, life, myth, reflection, precise, mountain, wrath
Give it a try and post your poem.
